I'm mostly planning to stay around big cities, but also more rural ones and some hiking. I just want clean tap water.
I was considering buying one of these water filter bottles:
LifeStraw Go 2-Stage Filtration Water Bottle
Katadyn BeFree Water Filter Bottle
Brita Fill and Go Water Bottle
Are any of these water filter bottles good? Have you tried them?
I'm not planning to drink water from lakes and stuff, but just use it for tap water.
Or should I just drink the tap water since I'm staying for 9 months, to get used to the bacteria? I want to taste the street food anyway?

Did you travel before? Asia, Africa or South America? If not, with a Scandinavian stomach...buy bottles of water and stay off the street food. Or, best deal, just get it over with. Rocket-propelled shites for a couple of days, then youncan truly enjoy it lol

I really like that you're asking this question rather than simply buying single use plastic bottles and creating more waste unnecessarily. Not only is recycling limited in its lifespan but many Latin countries don't have the facilities for processing particularly in more remote areas. I have a Lifestraw bottle and the only place I didn't find it useful was in Dahab while staying with a friend. Between that and the bidets I ended up with UTI issues, but I have a lifelong kidney problem so I'm more sensitive. I've been based in Costa Rica for four years now and it's hit or miss where you'll drink the tap water. I would say in some of the places on your list it also depends on how remote you're traveling. In the Sacred Valley for example you need to boil the water but perhaps it's safer in the cities?

Man you can always buy a 20L drinkable gallon, it'd cost almost nothing for you, local prices are like 1USD in some places and they deliver at home ... from my experience in most of Chile you can drink straight from the tap, I've done that in Brazil many times in many places, but the country is big and quality changes, ask a local, you can use a couple drops of cloro or simply boil it ... by your post it seems you will be part of the cast of the Welcome to the Jungle movie or going on an UN mission
