Went to an ATM and was talking with my wife and accidentally hit "Do Conversation" button (I'm from the US) for the first time in over a year.  I had forgotten how much of a rip off it is to let the ATM do the currency conversation for you.(Today's real exchange rate:  1USD = 6.28HRK)

Looks like you used Euronet ATM which infected every corner of every European tourist destination. It's a famous rip off company not only charging you different rates based on your nationality (ATM identifies if the inserted card is local or foreign) but offers plethora of other very sketchy stuff. Like, they don't charge you a fixed withdrawal fee, but percentage of what you are withdrawing. To maximize that, they always offer you as a 'quick withdrawal options' surrealy high amounts that are often equal to a month worth of salary for locals, but you as a foreigner have no clue if you are not familiar with the currency. Terrible conversion rates is just a cherry on top.Never ever use Euronet. Always plan ahead and use sparsely placed ATMs owned by actual bank.

It VERY depends on the ATM, I Live in Croatia and would never touch an Euronet ATM with a 100ft pole...
