My exhusband. He told me I was too old, fat, and ugly to be desirable to anyone. I gave him the middle finger and went to Perú for my first solo trip in my life. He was apparently correct since I'm still single haha but, luckily, the world's a very big place and, whenever I feel the sting of his words, I hop on a plane and go somewhere new!

I ran from an abusive father and discovered that the world is full of nice people and places and just kept going :) Been traveling solo for 35 years now on and off :)

My parents.  They always said when they retire they will travel and stay 3 months in each country, then move to the next- and they got all of us kids so excited for them and loved the idea of the plan.  What could be better than 3 months in Italy, 3 months in Japan, Bali, Thailand, Costa Rica, etc.  Unfortunately by the time they reached retirement age their health was so poor they had to give up the idea.  That's why I'm planning to do this as an early retirement, and not wait till I'm over 65.
