Hey guys 💓! I made travelling a bit complicated by adopting a dog. I am in Egypt now. Not sure what's the next destination and when but trying to prepare to travel with the dog. Do you have any experience with passports for animals? People here say different things and I dont know what is true, if I have to make papers for the dog every time I travel or just one time is enough, or it depends where I travel...??? Any advice about how to travel with the dog (5 kg) in the cabin, how to pick flights to not have any issues? Thanks for sharing your experience with me 💓

Did you find the dog in Egypt? I adopted a street cat when I lived in Egypt and brought her back with me to U.K. You’ll need a local vet to give you a pet passport and complete all their vaccinations. You’ll need to get rabies shot for the dog and then wait one month, have blood taken which must be tested to prove they have antibodies against rabies. This is known as a titre test and will give you a certificate of the results. Then for me, I had to wait a further three months after the blood test before I could travel. Dogs may need additional paperwork. It’s complicated but getting the paperwork right is super important. You’ll need many copies of everything and your little dog may need to travel in the airplane hold depending where you are flying to x

I’m on continent number 4 with my dog. She’s almost 13 now and we’ve lived in the US, Peru, Singapore, Germany and Portugal over the past decade, and traveled countless other countries. The key is flexibility and slow travel. You can get an EU pet passport and it mitigates having to get paperwork each time. Different countries outside of Europe have different requirements. Some airlines don’t allow dogs so do your due diligence prior to booking. There are so many things I could share but I feel like I would write a book. Love this post!!! I found my dog in the mountains of Anaga (Tenerife) in December 2019. We've travelled 12 countries so far! We did it by car tho.He's 9kg so if I want to fly with him he needs to be in cargo. He has a lot of separation anxiety so we're working on that before doing a bigger trip.But your dog is only 5kg? With most aircrafts you can keep such small doggos with you in a carrier bag and it should not cost more than 100 euros.So nice you adopted him/her. You look like the perfect team 🥰🥰
