My entire country is underrated... I think you gotta thank those Hollywood movies that paint Mexico like a dusty place with donkey, sombreros and tequila

I love the US but have to say that our cities (besides NYC) pale in comparison to many others. CDMX, madrid, tel aviv, tokyo, barcelona, bangkok, ..and on and on

I don’t think it’s that underrated and it also depends on what you like. Maybe if you’ve never left America. If LA is your baseline, wait until you go to Tokyo or Hong Kong. You’ll feel like you’re in another planet.

I agree. I heard it was a crime infested dump. Yet having ended up in Polanco it was posher than the posh part of London (England!) and much safer! I think there is always this perception with "3rd world countries" that those from the supposed 1st world assume they must be slums. When I told friends in London I was going to Moscow I was told I would be killed for being brown and Bangkok was apparently full of slums! Still that's no bad thing. Everyone else can go on tours to "safe western countries" or cruises. Leave the interesting countries to people like us! PS LA is a dump and that was 25 years ago! PPS That's why travel broadens the mind :-)
