I need your recommendation: I do my remote work on the company laptop but do not have admin rights to install software - such as a VPN. What device can I use so my employer does not know that I am traveling internationally when I am working online? Any other ideas or advice is deeply appreciated.

If you don't have admin rights, it's certainly because you don't have enough autonomy in your job. If you don't have enough autonomy, my advice is to don't go too far and respect your employer terms.It's not a technical issue, it's an human issue.

Don’t have ideas, wish I did. But I do know that it is important to be careful about this because your employer could face serious tax liability from your working in another country so it is generally best to tell them where you will be to avoid any possibly trouble later

Quit your job and buy your own laptop, get your own clients that don't impose geographical limitation on where you work. What you're asking to do would constitute to a breach of trust between you and your employer and they could potentially hold you liable for damages.Another option is to obtain permission to travel internationally from your employer.Just because you can run a VPN and mask your location doesn't mean that you should.
