Hey Nomads 🙂I have this personal question and would be interested how you guys see it..wether you agree or disagree 🙂The thing is... as nomads we are freedom loving and aim to grow and get more from life. Also i assume that we have the winner mindset, and the more we free ourselves from the normal 9/5 life, we realise that those left behind, are rather slow, not agile enough, not driven enough... not modern enough. Do you guys seek to more n more surround yourself with „other winners“... or how do you handle the fact that you might seek to avoid the „9/5 people“... Hope this resonates with some of you or that i cld find a new learning :)

To be honest, for the most part, average digital nomads are mediocre. They believe that simply because of working remotely and leveraging their $2k a month in a cheap country like Bali that they're winners in life??It's just an illusion and ego. No one is rather a winner just because of that. And what's unattractive is the hype and thought that being a digital nomad is the coolest end goal.When you live other type of hard and life changing experiences, people start to realise there's a waay deeper purpose for striving towards that freedom and location independence...After personally traveling for 8 years and STILL feeling empty (didn't feel like a winner at all because the significance of travel didn't have a Greater motive than for myself)...I had a realization that made me understood that being remote and being able to make money on the go was simply THE BEGINNING of something that could help me grow and learn in order to contribute to others.It's just a skill. Just the first step. That's when I had a travel breakthrough.But this lifestyle isn't for everyone, and still I've seen a LOT OF WINNERS doing their thing THEIR OWN WAY. not because it isn't like my way of seeing life it means that you or me or we are better.

God. What a load of bullshit. No. None of this applies to me and for the most part I actively avoid meeting other nomads because of this type of crap.

I don’t think being a nomad makes you a winner by default at all, I don’t think it makes you driven either. I know a lot of people that supposedly “work in tech” (took an 8 hr. Python udemy course) and then end up leaving everything to “find the unknown” and “believing in themselves” on the college fund that mom and dad set up for them. I don’t mean to be judgmental but that’s an extremely lazy way to live & pretty irresponsible. What you should really do is cultivate some real skills for a couple years and then take that skill and monetize it. Then whether your employer/client would rather have you in the office or doesn’t care where you are, everyone wants you because their company/project is better off with you than without. My father is a property developer and I make a pretty handsome living, but he makes my income look like pocket change. However, his job clearly required he physically be on site so he ends up being much more beholden to one location, but he has waaayyyy more drive and ambition professionally than me and has also helped on many volunteer and community projects. However, since I travel more than he does, we gradually have less and less is common in terms of what we do and think about on a daily basis but I wouldn’t say that gives either one of us some sort of superiority complex. If I was born 30 years ago I probably wouldn’t be a nomad, if I was born in some hut in a third world country, I probably wouldn’t be either. Just because I lucked up and was born in California where this path was a much easier transition doesn’t make me better than any other human being. If I might kindly recommend, I think this should be your next project, to not see others as inferior to yourself because cultivating that would be a quality of a real “winner”

When I travel I'm not interested in meeting other nomads. I prefer to meet locals and learn their culture... As for normal 9-5ers. Friends and family who don't travel.  I feel they don't understand my lifestyle,  so I find it hard to relate to them now. I wouldn't say we are better though. Just different. Different is good. Sadly Some just don't accept different.

The whole idea behind "winner mindset" is that life is a zero sum game where you're either a winner or a loser. I profoundly disagree with that kind of mindset. Additionally, if I saw myself as more resourceful than others, I would consider it my duty to put those resources in good use for the benefit of other people. Also, being "a nomad" doesn't actually come with any kind of personal attributes you're describing, it only requires not having a permanent address. Similarly, those "9 to 5 people" are not a uniform group of people, they are just persons with a different type of job from yours.It's incredible how anyone can put themselves on the pedestal just because they happen to travel more than average.
